CBF LEader to Speak

Sunday October 2 at 9:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Hominy Baptist Church, will host the 20th annual Smith Werhan Distinctively Baptist Preaching Event. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Wanda Hardee Kidd.

Wanda Hardee Kidd is a retired campus minister, campus ministry coordinator for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina, and Collegiate Specialist for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. She has an undergraduate degree from Western Carolina University, a Masters of Divinity and Religious Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Ministry from Drew University. Wanda and her husband, Dan, live in Mars Hill, North Carolina, where Dan is a self-employed CPA. They have a daughter who lives in Hillsborough, North Carolina, and a married son living in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Kidd served as the Baptist Campus Minister at Western Carolina University 1994-2007 and with CBFNC and CBF from 2007 until retirement in 2022. Her retirement plans include travel, standup comedy, creating a podcast, and developing new ministry with young adults.

Through the Smith Werhan Preaching Event, Hominy Baptist Church honors the pastorates of Rev. M.D. Smith, 1945-1970, and Dr. Fred Werhan, 1973-1995, by focusing attention on the distinctive beliefs, ideals and characteristics of the Baptist tradition. Previous speakers have included Cecil Sherman, Daniel Vestal, James Dunn, Nancy Sehested, Roy Smith, Pam Durso, and Paul Baxley.
